Deputies hear Matosinhos' problems

Mayor meets with Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party

The Leixões Line, the closure of the Petrogal refinery and the region's mobility problems were some of the issues highlighted at the work meeting that the Mayor of Matosinhos held yesterday, at the Edifício dos Paços do Concelho, with members of the Parliamentarian of the Socialist Party.

Luísa Salgueiro met with the deputies elected by the Porto circle João Pedro Matos Fernandes, Carlos Brás and Miguel Rodrigues.

The Leixões Line for the transport of passengers was discussed, to Ermesinde, with a connection to Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, a situation that is being studied by Infraestruturas de Portugal, and which has already motivated the scheduling of a meeting with the government minister responsible for the matter. .

With regard to the mobility infrastructures in the region and in order to reduce the traffic flow currently existing on roads such as the A28, Circunvalação and Via Norte, he regretted the lack of interventions by IP- Infraestruturas de Portugal, namely a new configuration of the roundabout of the AEP, the definition of the use of the central separator of the A28, the widening or reprofiling of the Via Norte or the requalification of the bypass.

The maintenance problems of the mobile bridge at the Port of Leixões were also addressed, as well as the need to reconvert the Docapesca second-sale market.

The future of Petrogal's land and the impact of the refinery's closure were under discussion, namely the professional retraining of employees who lost their jobs, soil decontamination, access to the Just Transition Fund and the transfer of land for the installation of the Technological Center and Sea Hub.

Housing and social responses were other topics under analysis. The mayor stressed the need for speed in decision-making and flexibility in the notices for housing construction by the IHRU (Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation) and for greater financial allocation for the Program for the Expansion of Equipment and Social Responses by the Social Security, warning of the risk of failure to implement essential components of the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
