The Local Health Unit (ULS) of Matosinhos guarantees to have implemented "an open consultation system" in the health center of Santa Cruz do Bispo through the displacement of another doctor, given the absence of the two clinicians who provide service there (one for illness and the other on vacation). The population remains unhappy with the functioning of that unit.
In the meantime, the notices posted at the entrance of the unit, which indicated the absence of the two family doctors in that Health Care Unit, have been removed. The ULS ensures that on Wednesday afternoon, the first day on which the absence of two doctors simultaneously occurred, "a doctor from the Porta do Sol Family Health Unit" moved to the health center of Santa Cruz do Bispo to fill the gap. Minimum services were implemented and the ULS guarantees that appointments have been scheduled. However, the population maintains criticism of the operation of the health center.
It was in the edition of March 1, that the JN reported the complaints of users, due to the fact that the health center has opened its doors without doctors available. Questioned by the JN, the ULS said: "Over the next few days, consultations will be held as open consultations, in the morning from 9 am to 12.20 pm, and in the afternoon from 2 pm to 3.40 pm. There will also be guaranteed service for the prescription of chronic medication". That entity added that the construction of the new Family Health Unit Progresso will respond to the users of Santa Cruz do Bispo. The construction work started in February.
The Matosinhos ULS recalls that it manages "one hospital, 12 family health units, and two personalized health care units.
