The inauguration of two new exhibitions and the Visitor + Accessible for the visually impaired are some of the novelties in the programme prepared to mark the date
International Museum Day, celebrated annually on 18 May on the proposal of the International Council of Museums - ICOM, is almost upon us.
The Municipal Museums of Matosinhos could not fail to join this celebration. This year, under the theme 'Museums, Sustainability and Well-being', the International Museum Day will be marked by the Municipal Museums of Matosinhos with initiatives taking place from 18 to 20 May.
Workshops, musical moments, theatre, staged readings and exhibitions make up the diversified programme prepared by the Matosinhos City Hall.
Highlights include the inauguration of the exhibition "Interruptions and Continuities in the Municipal Art Collection - decades 30 to 50" in partnership with the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto on May 18 at 5 p.m. at the Quinta de Santiago Museum.
On 19 May, also at the Quinta de Santiago Museum, accessible visits are scheduled for the visually impaired, with a set of tactile resources and information leaflets in Braille.
This initiative promotes an inclusive cultural offer, as part of the celebrations of the International Museum Day, and will be available from that date, by appointment. These visits continue the project supported by ProMuseus, which enabled the Museum with new equipment and the offer of activities suitable for audiences with specific needs, strengthening, once again, the motivation to make the municipality's heritage more accessible.
