The return of Senhor de Matosinhos
“Supernova, the explosion of the stars” was the theme chosen this year for the pyromusical and multimedia show that lit up the skies of Matosinhos yesterday, in what is the most awaited night of the Romaria do Senhor de Matosinhos.
After two years of interruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the grandiose fireworks display returned and attracted thousands of visitors.
For about 20 minutes, 7,144 pyrotechnic articles were used to produce 26,999 shots per minute.
Launched from the facilities at the Port of Leixões, the 539,985 shots were fired either from the ground or from a sphere supported by two cranes, at a height of 80 m.
The shots were, as usual, synchronized with music. Excerpts of songs from the 80s, international pop hits, as well as Portuguese artists such as Xutos & Pontapés, António Variações, Carlos Paião, UHF, Da Vinci, Miguel Gameiro, Mariza or Quinta do Bill were used.
