Government allocates 2.5 M€ to support families affected by fires and floods

The Government allocated 2.5 million euros to allocate subsidies to families affected by the fires of August 2022 and the floods of last December and January, according to an order yesterday, February 15, published in the Official Gazette

The joint order of the Ministries of Finance, Labour, Solidarity and Social Security and Agriculture and Food defines that support measures to families, "to meet expenses necessary for their subsistence or purchase of immediate and unpostponable goods", take the form of "subsidies of an eventual character, of an exceptional and transitional nature" for reasons directly caused by the events of August, December and January, "with a budget allocation of 2.500.000 euros".

According to the law, the monthly amount of the eventual subsidy is variable, and determined on a case-by-case basis depending on the household income and expenses or purchase of goods and services to be made, up to the value of the social support index (IAS) for each member of the household.

Access to the subsidy depends on the completion of an application in the proper model, available on the social security portal.

The ordinance mentions that the subsidies of a temporary nature to be granted to individuals and families aim to ensure the realization of expenses such as the purchase of goods and services of primary necessity, including food, clothing, housing, health, education and transportation, as well as expenses with house rents or depreciation of housing, purchase of support products and purchase of other goods and services considered necessary after evaluation of the competent social security services.
