Government paid 35 million euros to fire brigades

Support provided by the Government to Portuguese fire brigades

The Government has paid, in recent days, more than 35 million euros to fire brigades to compensate for expenses under the Special Device for Fighting Rural Fires (DECIR), reveals the Minister of Internal Administration.

"Over the last few days more than 35 million euros have been paid to the humanitarian associations," said José Luís Carneiro, during the parliamentary appreciation of the proposed State Budget for 2023 (OE2023).

The ruler stressed that this payment "corresponds to all the concerns" expressed by a number of fire brigades.
