Matosinhos and Maia come together to discuss common projects
The hall of mirrors of MuMMa - Museu da Memória de Matosinhos hosted the InterMunicipal Summit with Maia, a meeting which aimed to discuss problems, projects and partnership possibilities between the municipalities of Matosinhos and Maia.
The Mayor of Matosinhos opened the session highlighting its importance in view of the need for discussion and evaluation of various issues that cover the two municipalities in order to make more informed, targeted and effective decisions in solving problems.
"It is a moment of great satisfaction today to have the opportunity to host this meeting and to have you here, in this moment of sharing and reflection between these two teams from Matosinhos and Maia", she stressed.
Luísa Salgueiro then introduced the municipal executive, as well as the municipal team present with responsibilities in the hot springs addressed in the meeting's agenda.
In his turn, the Mayor of Maia, António Silva Tiago, thanked the welcoming, highlighting the pleasure of sharing with Matosinhos the common goal of policies and projects orientation and rationalization of initiatives, be them cultural, sports, environmental, or others, also presenting the team that accompanied him.
On the table during the afternoon, were issues related to traffic, road improvements and new connections, transport and mobility, environment, including projects for cleaning, conservation and maintenance of the banks of the Leça Green Corridor, but also the possibility of building a nature park between the two municipalities, the creation of the inter-municipal Justice of the Peace with decentralized facilities, synergies in sporting, cultural, recreational and leisure events, the preparation of joint applications to Portugal 2030, among many other topics.
Were also involved in this afternoon of work the deputy mayor, Carlos Mouta, and the councilors of the municipal executive, Manuela Alvares, Fernando Rocha, António Correia Pinto, Marta Pontes and Vasco Pinho. From the Maia City Hall, were present, besides the mayor, the vice-president, Maria Emília Santos, and the Chief of Staff, Aloísio Maia Nogueira. Both municipalities enriched this summit by bringing to the debate their leaders, technicians, and experts in planning, urbanism, and public space.
