It is now possible to pay by MB Way on STCP

The Porto Public Transport Company (STCP) has made available, since this Monday 28th November, the possibility of payment by MB Way for both bus and tram journeys

"We have become the first public transport company, at a national level, to provide the MB Way payment functionality to its passengers, allowing a more convenient, fast and simple purchase inside our buses and historic trams," he announced in a statement sent to the press.

According to it, the initiative in question results from the signing of a partnership protocol established with SIBS and does not imply "any added cost for customers".

"Each bus will have its own QR CODE EXPRESS duly numbered and identified, so that the process of checking the validity of the boarding pass, which is carried out by the drivers and/or by the Enforcement Agents, will be simple. In this case, the client will only have to show the proof of purchase on his mobile phone", he adds.

The proof of purchase will be available on the passenger's mobile phone, in electronic format, with the date and time of the purchase and the identification of the bus where the purchase was made.

According to Cristina Pimentel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of STCP, the new method of payment will allow passengers "greater speed and comfort in the purchase process", this being "another objective achieved in the continuous promotion of a public service of excellence".
