Local authority gives voice to citizens

25th of April commemorations in Matosinhos

The municipality of Matosinhos marked yesterday, April 25th, the 49th anniversary of the April 25th Revolution, which put an end to dictatorship.

The Freedom Day celebrations began with the flag hoisting ceremony, outside the Town Hall Building, with the participation of the Mayor, Luísa Salgueiro, the President of the Municipal Assembly, Palmira Macedo, and the President of the Parish Councils of Matosinhos and Leça da Palmeira, Paulo Carvalho.

The fanfare of the Bombeiros Voluntários de Leixões was also present.

The celebrations continued inside, more specifically in the Noble Hall of the Town Hall, with the solemn commemorative session of April 25th, in which members of the Municipal Executive, the Municipal Assembly and other entities were present.

This year, the Municipality of Matosinhos decided to give the voice to citizens who represent different realities of our democratic society.

The 25th of April is also part of the training curriculum of ADEIMA's +Literacy Project. Representing the participants of this project, trainees Isabel Carapuço and Rosa Araújo read one of the texts built in the training on the theme.
