Matosinhos lights up for Christmas on November 22nd

Matosinhos will have 16 kilometres of Christmas lights spread across all the parishes in the municipality, in 88 locations. This year's investment is 299 thousand euros.



 

Matosinhos will have 16 kilometers of Christmas lights spread across 88 locations from November 22, Friday.

This is a 7% increase compared to 2023, which will have 278 natural trees illuminated, streets, municipal markets, tourist offices, squares, gardens and churches, totaling 16 kilometers of lighting and 1,611,170 LED technology lamps (low consumption), the municipality reported.

1,527 pieces of lighting and 62 light points with the Matosinhos symbol will also be installed, 24% more than last year.

The local authority has revealed that a dynamic solution will be installed at the Anémona roundabout, which will create sparkling light effects. There will also be areas of the municipality with light animations that are switched on by sensors, in order to increase interactivity.

The “Enchanted Wish Tree” will be available in all Parish Unions, which consists of an immersive 'selfie point' made up of a dynamic arrangement of lights that rise and invite visitors to be part of the Christmas installation.

The lights in São Mamede de Infesta will only be switched on on December 1st, and throughout the municipality they will remain on until January 7th.

The lighting represents an investment of 299 thousand euros, investment in Christmas lighting is 7.5% more compared to 2023, said the municipality.
