Ministry of Education opens enquiry into the case of autistic boy from Matosinhos

The Ministry of Education has opened an enquiry to ascertain facts and responsibilities in the case of the autistic boy who left school, in Matosinhos, without anyone noticing, running the risk of being run over



The lack of staff is at the root of the incident starred by Diogo Veiga, 6 years, in October. In response to a request for clarification made by the JN, source of that ministry sent a statement, which states the following: "There are indications that was not guaranteed the safety of students in school space, the Ministry of Education proceeded to open an enquiry to ascertain the facts and responsibilities".

The same note adds that, within the framework of the transfer of competences under Decree-Law 21/2019, in its current wording, "the placement of operational assistants in school groupings/ungrouped schools is the responsibility of the municipal council through the signalling of needs by the groupings".
