The contracts for the new road passenger transport operators in the Metropolitan Area of Porto (AMP) come into force on 1 May, according to Sérvulo, the law firm that advised on the process

Porto municipality was left out of the tender, since Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos do Porto (STCP) operates exclusively in the municipality, being only the departure and arrival point of some lines of the new network.
The process has been marked, over the years, by successive challenges by some of the current operators in the field, who lost the public tender and currently operate under provisional licences that expire on 3 December this year.
AMP officials have indicated the end of the first semester as the expected date for the start-up of the new network.
In the North East lot (Santo Tirso/Valongo/Paredes/Gondomar) Nex Continental Holdings will operate, in the North West lot (Póvoa de Varzim/Vila do Conde), Porto Mobilidade, in the South East lot (Santa Maria da Feira/São João da Madeira/Arouca/Oliveira de Azeméis/Vale de Cambra) Xerbus, in the South West lot (Vila Nova de Gaia and Espinho) Transportes Beira Rio and in the North Centre lot (Maia/Matosinhos/Trofa) Vianorbus.
