59 institutions awarded 40 thousand euros
The Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of S. Mamede de Infesta was one of the 59 institutions included in Operation Tampinhas LIPOR, of which the municipality of Matosinhos is a part.
Between January 2020 and December 2021, 93 tons of bottle caps were collected, translating into €40,000.00 in revenue. The amount reverts in full in favor of the purchase of orthopedic and similar material/equipment for donation to institutions and individuals.
The donations were delivered yesterday and the ceremony was attended by the Councilor for the Environment of the municipality of Matosinhos, Manuela Álvares.
Operation LIPOR Caps is a project that began in April 2006. LIPOR and its associated municipalities, including Matosinhos, encourage civil society to separate plastic caps from packaging, deliver them to LIPOR or to facilities of associated municipalities, as well as public and private institutions in the region.
In the total of 17 phases, 658 Entities and/or individuals have already been supported, with more than 600 thousand euros in equipment. With a simple gesture, it is possible to act on two fronts: the environment and solidarity.
