Porto Airport to have direct connection to the Latvian capital

The Baltic airline (airBaltic) announced new connections from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport. Thus, from 1 May 2023 there will be two flights per week, between Porto and the capital of Latvia, Riga


The route to Porto is one of 18 new operations announced by the airline. "This is the largest number of new routes announced in a single season ever seen at airBaltic. We remain committed to our home cities in the Baltics and to improving connections to and from the region. We are excited to expand airBaltic's offering for the upcoming summer season by adding new routes and increasing flight frequency on our existing leisure and city breaks routes," underlined, Martin Gauss, president and CEO of the airline, in a statement.

Reservations for the Oporto-Riga-Oporto route can already be made on airBaltic's official website, and are also available at travel agencies. The scheduled flight time is over four hours, with prices starting at €149 per trip. An increase in the frequency of connecting flights between the two capitals is also planned for Lisbon.

With this increase, Portugal will have five flights a week to the Latvian capital, allowing connections to other Baltic countries and to several Finnish and Scandinavian cities.

Besides Porto, airBaltic will also fly between Riga and Bilbao (Spain), Hannover (Germany), Istanbul (Turkey), Bucharest (Romania), Burgas (Bulgaria), Tivat (Montenegro), Yerevan (Armenia), Belgrade (Serbia) and Baku (Azerbaijan).
