On the day that marks one year since Russia invaded Ukraine, Porto City Hall will light up the City Hall building with the colors alluding to the Ukrainian flag
The moment is scheduled for 7:00 pm, precisely one hour after the start of the initiative "A seed for peace", promoted by Coliseu do Porto.
At stake, it should be noted, is a free-access concert, which will take place in Passos Manuel Street and will feature the presence of several Ukrainian and Portuguese artists, including the artists Pedro Abrunhosa and Tiago Nacarato.
"With Passos Manuel Street closed to traffic from 5:30 pm on Friday, the Coliseu do Porto sets the tone for a late afternoon in the Invicta where several well-known voices will rise to plant "A seed for peace". They are Pedro Abrunhosa, Tiago Nacarato, Best Youth, Ana Deus, but also the voice of the Ukrainian Irina Horbatyuk and the actor Pedro Lamares," says the city hall led by Rui Moreira.
All performances are free and will take place open to the street, in front of the Coliseu do Porto, where is also planned the projection of the flag with the colors of Ukraine. At 18h24, a minute of silence will be held in memory of the victims of war and will also be distributed, symbolically, sunflower seeds, the national flower of Ukraine.
"As 365 days pass since the beginning of the conflict, we invite people to a civic demonstration of belonging, signaling the hope for peace, sowing it in front of the Coliseum," invites the president of the Coliseum's board, Miguel Guedes, alerting to the importance of this mobilization.
The event is joined by a march organized by the Association of Ukrainians in Portugal, with the support of the Ukrainian Consulate in Porto, which ends at the General Humberto Delgado Square, in front of the City Hall. The Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, will accompany the entire route.
