With more than 650 participants, including 450 students from 50 universities around the world, the European Innovation Academy positions Porto as a hub for technology and entrepreneurship, offering a unique opportunity to turn ideas into start-ups.

For the third year running, Porto will become the European capital of innovation by hosting a new edition of the European Innovation Academy (EIA), the largest academy dedicated to technological and digital entrepreneurship in Europe, from 14 July to 2 August.
This event of excellence will bring together more than 650 participants, including students from the most prestigious world and Portuguese universities, experts and mentors from various fields, academic leaders and investors from all over the world.
With the municipality of Porto and the University of Porto as organisers and hosts, the European Innovation Academy is an event renowned for its intensive and practical approach to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, offering participants a unique opportunity to turn ideas into viable start-ups. Over the course of three weeks, more than 450 students from over 50 universities around the world will have the chance to take part in workshops, mentoring sessions and networking events, all designed to give rise to the next generation of innovators.
The city of Porto offers the perfect setting for this transformative event. The city's dynamic environment and strategic location make it the ideal place to foster international collaboration and innovation. This event not only highlights the city's commitment to innovation, but also strengthens the city's position as a hub for technology and entrepreneurship in Europe.

The main speakers and mentors at this edition of EIA include leading figures from global technology giants, venture capital firms and successful start-ups, providing insights and inspiration to the participants. For the most promising start-ups, the programme will culminate in a pitch, during which they will have the opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of respected investors and business angels from around the world.
EIA's impact extends beyond the event itself, fostering networking and lasting collaborations that drive innovation and economic growth in the region. Previous editions have resulted in some successful start-ups, such as BreastScreening AI in Portugal, led by Francisco Calisto, and Clynx, led by Joana Pinto.
"It is with great pride that the University of Porto is co-organising the European Innovation Academy for the third year running. This event represents a unique opportunity for hundreds of students from all over the world, but it is also an opportunity for the University and the city to promote Porto's innovation ecosystem at an international level. Through EIA, we strengthen our international position as a reference in supporting the transformation of ideas into successful business projects," emphasises the vice-rector of the University of Porto, António de Sousa Pereira.
"EIA is a very important event and moment to present Porto's innovation ecosystem. I'm sure that this will be another edition with many projects and ideas that, inspired by all that Porto has to offer, can help to think about and solve some of the challenges facing the cities of the future, in social, economic, scientific and environmental terms. More than just being the epicentre of European innovation this summer, we are committed to continuing to position the city as a top innovation territory, developing ongoing efforts and initiatives with results that we are very proud of," says Filipe Araújo, deputy mayor of Porto and also councillor for Innovation and Digital Transition.
