Porto 'Metrobus' presented and works to start this week

The Porto 'metrobus' project, between Rotunda da Boavista and Praça do Império, was presented this Monday, January 30, and the works should start during the week, according to a source from Metro do Porto, speaking to Lusa Agency

"The construction of the first Porto 'metrobus' line between Rotunda da Boavista and Praça do Império was presented this Monday, the 30th, and will begin during the week, with the start of intervention on the ground and the opening of the first front of work on Avenida da Boavista in Porto," says Lusa.

This is an investment of 66 million euros fully financed outright by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

"The 'metrobus' work, which in addition to the Boavista - Império connection, also includes the Boavista - Anémona line in Matosinhos, will be executed in 2023 and 2024, the year in which the new mode of transport will enter into commercial operation," Lusa also reports.

The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT, known as 'metrobus' of Porto) will be a green hydrogen bus that will circulate on a dedicated track on Avenida da Boavista and coexisting with cars on Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa, with service operated by Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos do Porto (STCP).
