Keep track of the events that will take place at the end of freedom week in the municipality of Matosinhos

APRIL IN THE LIBRARY - ARTS WORKSHOP - PAPER CARNATIONS

In the context of the 25th of April, on 22nd April, at 11am, in the Municipal Library Florbela Espanca, there will be an activity consisting of the recitation of poetry and construction of paper carnations.

Free activity, but requires previous registration (bmfe@cm-matosinhos.pt); Maximum 12 participants.

BOOKS - CELEBRATION OF WORLD BOOK DAY - THE IMPORTANCE OF BOOKS, POETRY AND POETS.

On April 22nd, at 3pm, the Biblioteca Municipal Florbela Espanca will celebrate the World Book Day with a conversation about books, poems, poets and libraries, with the guests Filipa Leal and João Gesta, moderated by Raquel Marinho.

After the conversation, there will be a moment for poetry, with Isaque Ferreira, Rui Spranger and the participants of the lab Expresso Poesia.

The Books is an activity of the Matosinhos Municipal Reading Plan, promoted by the Matosinhos City Hall.

APRIL IN THE LIBRARY - MUSIC AMONG FRIENDS

Zeca Afonso, Fausto, Adriano Correia de Oliveira will be among friends in the Library through the voice of Fernando Ribeiro, accompanied by Paulo Gouson on percussion.

APRIL IN THE LIBRARY - LAUNCH OF THE BOOK "OPERAÇÃO PLATINA" BY AUTHOR HÉLDER NETO

On April 22nd, at 5pm, at the Florbela Espanca Municipal Library, will take place the book launch session of the book "Operação Platina" by the author Hélder Neto.

This is a work that portrays the experience of the military in the Colonial War, also addressing the traumas brought from that time in the Overseas Territories. The author presents in the book real stories of soldiers who felt a lack of support on their return. Hence the objective of honouring, telling the story and defending the rights of the combatants who went to Africa.

APRIL IN THE LIBRARY - PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK: JOSÉ AFONSO - TODAS AS CANÇÕES

At 6pm on April 24th, there will be a presentation of the book "José Afonso - Todas as canções", with the collaboration of AJA (Associação José Afonso).

CONCERT WITH ENSEMBLE VOCAL PRO MUSICA AND FIREWORKS

The commemorations of April 25th in 2023 in Matosinhos will take place in the Town Hall building with a choral concert with Ensemble Vocal Pro Musica. The proposed concert will consist of the exploration of several acoustic spaces of the building, presenting a repertoire that is appropriate to these spaces and also to the 25th of April Commemorations.

Afterwards, at 00h00, in Jardim Basílio Teles, the traditional fireworks display will take place.

On the morning of the public holiday that commemorates the day of freedom, the traditional raising of flags outside the Town Hall will take place at 10 a.m., followed by a formal sitting to commemorate 25th April in the Town Hall.
