The third week of October will be marked by the return of rain in mainland Portugal, accompanied by dust from the Sahara
The alert was left by the European monitoring programme Copernicus - the European Union's mission for Earth observation - which revealed that dust from Africa will reach the Iberian Peninsula by Tuesday 18.
"According to the Copernicus Atmospheric Monitoring Service, a new sandstorm is forecast on the Iberian Peninsula," reads the post made on Twitter.
Given this phenomenon, the Directorate General of Health, remember, calls on children, the elderly, people with chronic respiratory problems to remain "inside buildings and, preferably, with the windows closed", in addition to complying with the general recommendations. Among these, the restriction of physical activity outdoors and exposure to risk factors such as tobacco smoke and contact with irritants stand out.
