Santa Cruz do Bispo Health Center has no doctors

Several users of the health center of Santa Cruz do Bispo, in Matosinhos, say they are surprised and disgusted by the lack of doctors there

Maria Albertina Nogueira is one of the examples. In an interview with JN, the woman from Matosinhense says that she entered the establishment to make an appointment for her 89-year-old father, who is bedridden, without noticing the sheets posted on the door of the Santa Cruz do Bispo Health Center. She says she was surprised by the lack of professionals, also stressing the fact that the health center was about to close.

In response to complaints from residents of the parish, the ULS explains to Jornal de Notícias that the situation is due to "difficulty in ensuring the presence of doctors," adding that one of the health professionals has fallen ill and another is on vacation.

The Local Health Unit of Matosinhos also states that "no user is left without response" due to the existence of "a set of minimum services that have been defined" and the recruitment of "family doctors from other health units" to fill this need.

According to Jornal de Notícias, the entity guarantees that "in the next few days, the consultations will be carried out as open consultations, in the morning from 9am to 12:20pm, and in the afternoon from 2pm to 3:40pm. There will also be guaranteed service for the prescription of chronic medication".
