"Senhora da Lata" wins MAR Shopping's entrepreneurship contest

Concept that won sustainable entrepreneurship competition with environmental concern will open its space from today



Under the entrepreneurship contest "MAR StartUp Challenge", MAR Shopping Matosinhos, in partnership with ANJE - Associação Nacional de Jovens Empresários (National Association of Young Entrepreneurs), elected the concept of the Association Agir pelo Planeta (ApP), "Senhora da Lata" as the winning project.

As of today, "Senhora da Lata" will have its space in the meeting place, without any associated cost, for a period of six months. This is the most important phase of the initiative that marks the 14th anniversary of the meeting place and that has the main objective of promoting the entry into the market of new talents and sustainable entrepreneurship with environmental concern.


Senhora da Lata

The new space in MAR Shopping Matosinhos is a kiosk, whose entrepreneurial project is called "Senhora da Lata", emphasizes the connection to Matosinhos and is materialized with the marketing of limited editions of canned food, with new packaging, associated with other products or personalized, inviting lovers of this delicacy and collectors.

The preserves thus take on different forms, one of them being in packs, materialized in a box that brings together preserves from each of the canneries still operating in Matosinhos, associated with what is considered one of the best wines in the world, Port Wine. A second pack takes the form of a can of each of the companies still operating. Another option available to the public are the preserves sold individually but personalized with their own names and an explanation of the origin of the name, as well as the creation of other collections, such as that of Florbela Espanca, one of the most important national poets and who did most of her work in Matosinhos.

Besides canned food, this business concept foresees the creation of some products that can be inserted in the cultural merchandising, such as, for example, the creation of small sculptures related to the fishing industry, counting for that purpose on the support of a sculpture workshop located in Barcelos; the creation of stationary articles and others with the fishing and canning industries theme in focus.

Agir pelo Planeta is made up of a team of professionals with great experience in the creation of projects, both in the area of communication and in the area of sustainable merchandising products, which enhances economic viability for the implementation of environmental projects and for the sustainability of the structure itself.

For Sandra Monteiro, general manager of MAR Shopping Matosinhos, "This initiative is very important for us because it materializes our support for innovative concepts, through the provision of a space where thousands of people pass by every day. Nine years ago, the Meia Dúzia project won our first entrepreneurship competition and today it's a well-known concept among the Portuguese. In this edition, we focused on sustainable entrepreneurship with environmental concerns, so that these essential projects for awareness and transformation reach more people. Our wish is that MAR Shopping Matosinhos will help Act for the Planet, through the winning concept, "Senhora da Lata", to have the visibility it deserves.

The kiosk of MAR Shopping Algarve will open soon with the sale of jewelry, decorative pieces and bags made with the reuse of newspaper.
