The service is free of charge
The shopping centers managed by Sonae Sierra have come a long way towards sustainability and in 2023 they remain committed to having a positive impact on the planet. That's why today, March 22nd, the date that marks the World Water Day, Centro Colombo (Lisbon), Centro Vasco da Gama (Lisbon), CascaiShopping (Cascais) and NorteShopping (Matosinhos) announce the implementation of water refill stations, which seek to promote plastic savings.
As of now, there are eight filtered water stations available in these shopping centers - two in each Center - whose goal is, for now, to achieve a 10% savings in the plastic bottles bought in the shopping centers, as well as savings in the consumption of single-use plastic bottles.
The service is free and simple to use, so visitors can use it autonomously. Each station provides cold water and natural water - depending on the choice, just press a pedal and the water comes out the top.
During February, a test month in some shopping centers, in Centro Vasco da Gama, for example, the water refill stations filled more than 4,100 0.50 liter bottles, while in Colombo there were more than 5,700.
