Six New Year's Eve's to enjoy in the North

After the Christmas season, New Year's Eve is, for many, the second most awaited festivity throughout the year

Several municipalities are betting on programs for this night, not missing the usual entertainment in the streets, the traditional fireworks and the countdown to the new year. Among Diogo Piçarra and Tony Carreira concerts or DJ shows such as Cromos da Noite or The Fucking Bastards, there are plenty of good reasons to leave home on the night of December 31.

With the exception of the festivities in Braga, which will benefit an institution, all events are free of charge. Check out the different options below:

Porto

Fernando Daniel and Diogo Piçarra are the two main highlights of the program for the New Year's Eve, but that night Moullinex will also perform. The audience will also be able to watch an audiovisual show "Luminous" and countdown to the new year together. The shows take place at Queimódromo, which will open its doors at 8 PM, so that enthusiasts do not miss anything that is scheduled for one of the most anticipated festivities. The artist Fernando Daniel will take the stage at 10:30 pm, while Diogo Piçarra will perform in the new year, at 00h10, welcoming 2023. To continue the party Moullinex will perform at 1:30am.

Vila do Conde

Vila do Conde welcomes 2023 in a tent next to Forte de São João. Due to heavy rainfall in recent days, the municipality decided to change the festivities that were to take place at Cais da Alfândega. Thus, the tent doors open at 9:30 pm and at 10 pm the concert by Orquestra Bamba Social, a collective of Luso-Brazilian musicians, begins. The group revisits several classics of Brazilian music, recreating them and adding sounds such as jazz, funk, and hip-hop. During the concert, there is the always emotional countdown to the New Year, culminating with a fireworks display. The night will continue with a show by DJs The Fucking Bastards, who will present sounds such as Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, Rock, Reggae, Samba, Pagode, Sertanejo, Arroxa, Kizomba and Funk.

Braga

New Year's Eve will bring to Altice Forum Braga a concert by Tony Carreira, one of the most important names in Portuguese music. The artist will take the stage at 00h15 to mark the beginning of 2023 in the Minho city with a memorable concert. This will be a solidarity concert, whose box-office receipts will revert in favor of CERCI Braga. Tickets - standing audience €3.00 | VIP audience €5.00 - will be on sale at Altice Forum Braga and MeoBlue Ticket.

Before that, the musical program will start at 10:30 pm with "Os Bolha". At midnight, the traditional fireworks will welcome the New Year, being broadcast on screens inside and outside the premises. At 1:45am DJ Pedro Simões will continue to liven up the party.

Guimarães

This year the official New Year's Eve party has moved from Praça da Oliveira to Largo do Toural, which will host the event for the first time. Several surprises are promised and the celebrations will start at 10pm. The municipality reveals that there will be a great videomapping festival in S. Pedro's Basilica and the night will be animated by several DJ's.

Valença

The New Year's Eve in Valença will take place in the Municipal Garden, in a tent. The opening of the party is scheduled for 10:30 pm, with the artist Paulo Baixinho doing the honors of the house. At midnight the new year will be celebrated and then the party continues with DJ's Cromos da Noite. The duo plays various musical genres from Funk, Afro, House and those classics from the 90's and 2000's. Later the Valencian DJ, Pedro Lima, will close the night, animating everyone present.

Póvoa de Varzim

After two years of pause, the municipality of Póvoa de Varzim returns to organize the New Year's Eve party, and invites the locals and others to gather in front of Póvoa's Casino, on the last night of the year. Starting at 10:30 pm, the party begins where fun is guaranteed with entertainers, musical performances, and fireworks will take place at midnight.

Quinteto Boémio and Swing Brasil are the guest bands and promise a lively night, with a musical journey from 60's Rock and Roll, to Pop and the hot rhythms of Brazil. The party continues into the night with DJ João Duque taking over the stage for all those who want to dance and live to the fullest the first hours of the year 2023.
