A study that analyzed the various dimensions of breast cancer in Portugal is presented and suggests the improvement of access and adherence to screening and the creation of a priority green lane for exams for cancer patients.
The Católica H360º Study, coordinated by oncologist Luís Costa, from the Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Norte, also suggests increasing health literacy, not only among the population, but also among health professionals.
To understand the multiple dimensions of the disease, the research team captured the perspective of all stakeholders (patients, physicians and hospital administrators) throughout the patient's journey in the health system, in seven public and private hospitals from north to south of the country.
