The 2nd edition is back, at Cabo do Mundo Beach.

Following the success of the first round of the fourth edition of the Matosinhos Surf School Cup, held at Cabo do Mundo Beach, the organisers have announced that the circuit will continue in 2026, with the second round scheduled for 21 March, following a rescheduling of the calendar due to the weather conditions experienced in recent months.
The event, promoted by the Municipality of Matosinhos and organised by the Portuguese Association of Surf Schools (AESP), remains committed to delivering high-quality competitions, ensuring the best conditions in terms of safety, performance and engagement for athletes, schools, the public and partners.
The decision to move part of the schedule to 2026 aims to ensure the project’s continuity under suitable conditions, reinforcing the commitment to excellence and the initiative’s sustained growth.
The competition format remains a tag-team event, inspired by the International Surfing Association (ISA) Aloha Cup model, fostering team spirit, camaraderie and cooperation among the participating Surf Schools. Each School is represented by a team comprising one coach and four students.
The Matosinhos Surf School Cup continues to establish itself as a key project for the development of school surfing in Portugal, promoting the discovery and appreciation of the municipality’s beaches, contributing to tourism, the local economy and the profile of Matosinhos.
