Although an increase has been announced for the beginning of this year, many bakeries have not yet raised the price of bread. But this is a situation that can change if the cost of some raw materials increases.
Without a fixed price, the price of bread varies depending on the bakery or supermarket. But the increase registered in 2022 was widespread and did not leave consumers indifferent.
It was expected a new increase in the price of bread now in January yet this increase is not confirmed, for example in a bakery in Matosinhos.
However, there are no guarantees that this will not happen and there is one raw material in particular that worries the sector.
Last year on average the price of bread increased 14% in Portugal.
