Puppet fire in Matosinhos
Two years after the interruption caused by the pandemic, Jardim do Parque 25 de Abril received the spectacle of arrested fire, also known as "fire of the puppets", a unique 19th century Matosinense tradition, which represents in the puppets the typical figures of the local arts and crafts.
It should be noted that the Festa do Senhor de Matosinhos is the only one in the country that still maintains the tradition of the puppet fire.
The session was in charge of the company Macedos Pirotecnia. Over the course of 25 minutes, 18 figures, of different models, were moving and bursting to the great satisfaction of those present.
A sea of people watched the puppet fire show in Jardim do Parque 25 de Abril. Present were the Mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro, and the Councilor for Culture and President of ANCIMA – Association for the Animation of the City of Matosinhos, Fernando Rocha, the Vice-President, Carlos Mouta, the Councilor for the Environment, Manuela Álvares and the Councilor for Sports, Vasco Pinho.
The Festas do Senhor de Matosinhos last until Sunday, June 12th.
