The Ukrainian Consul in Porto, Alina Ponomarenko, was in Matosinhos today with the Mayor of Matosinhos for a working meeting.
The meeting discussed the possibility of collaboration between Matosinhos and a Ukrainian city, yet to be defined, with a view to partnerships in the areas of culture, education, tourism, the economy, science, the environment and sport, among others.
The mayor announced that the city for which the agreement will be made must establish a link with Matosinhos, taking into account common factors such as proximity to the sea or the existence of a port.
At this meeting, the Florbela Espanca Municipal Library joined the international “Ukrainian Bookshelf” project, which is being carried out under the patronage of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Book Institute. This project involves distributing Ukrainian books in libraries, with the aim of preserving and promoting Ukrainian culture and literature in Portugal.
