In December 2022, 307,005 people were registered in the country's employment centers
The government highlighted, this Monday, January 23, the reduction in unemployment recorded at job centers in December, stating that it is the lowest value, that month, in the last 30 years.
Overall, the Ministry of Labor says that 2022 was the "best year" in terms of the number of people registered at the Institute of Employment and Professional Training (IEFP).
"The number of unemployed people registered with the IEFP in December (307,005 people) was the lowest in that month in the last 30 years, a decrease of -11.8% (-40,954 people) compared to December 2021," the Ministry indicates in a statement.
Compared to December 2019, i.e. the pre-pandemic period, the reduction is -1.1% (-3,477 people). Between November and December 2022, there are 10,282 more people unemployed, an increase of +3.5%.
"Overall, 2022 was the best year in terms of registered unemployment, having marked systematically lower figures since March 2022 than the year-on-year figures for 2019. In registered youth unemployment, 2022 was also overall the best year, with systematically lower values than the year-on-year values of 2019, except for the months of January and June.
