Besides offering a special menu dedicated to women in several restaurants, there are many initiatives taking place on March 8th

In order to celebrate "a date that aims to praise the role of women and the struggles and achievements they have made over time," the Tram Museum opens its doors, free of charge, to all female visitors. "It is our way of distinguishing and valuing the role of women in all aspects of the history of the electric car and the history of the 150 years of STCP", says Cristina Pimentel, president of the Board of Directors of the operator.

At the Portuguese Photography Center, at 10:30 a.m., Sónia Silva will give a lecture, "having as background images from the CPF's collection, made by women photographers and others", who promises to "take a peek into the family archives, particularly that of Manuela de Mendonça".

The Shopping Cidade do Porto will be the stage for a special concert, starting at 1 pm, where the voice of Rita Calatré and the piano of Paulo Pires interpret "iconic songs" that "honor the contributions of women in Portuguese culture".

Throughout the day, women visiting the Gaia Jardim Shopping Center will be presented "with a bouquet of flowers and a card, which aims to honor all women who have challenged norms, broken stereotypes and created the foundations to help build a path of gender equality.

The Museu Futebol Clube do Porto will mark the day with a promotional campaign, aimed at women, offering 50% discount on the price of Tour FC Porto tickets, which includes a visit to the Museum and the Dragão Stadium.

At CDUP-FADEUP, between 18h45 and 20h00, the program includes a different class that invites the whole community to join the Strong Women - Mega Circuit Training. Starting at 7pm, in the same place, there is also an aquagym class.

In turn, the World of Wine (WOW) promotes the first edition of the forum "Art and culture: plural feminine", which starts at 6pm. "What it is to be a woman, the role, the multiple roles, the legacy, the challenges and missions. Their importance and contribution in the branches of art and culture. All this, and probably much more, will serve as the motto for a conversation in the feminine", moderated by Sofia Fernandes, with some of the women who have stood out in the world of art and culture: Maria de Fátima Lambert, Minês Castanheira, Joana Castro, and Mónica Ferraz.

There will also be an international march for women's rights starting at 6:30 pm at Praça dos Poveiros. "The end of precarious work, equal pay for equal work, a generalized increase in wages that keeps up with inflation and the freezing of fuel prices, essential goods and housing" are some of the motivations that lead to this march.

At 9 pm, at Fnac in Mar Shopping Matosinhos, the Oporto Toastmasters invites all women to make themselves heard and inspire the world. The club, which is dedicated to creating successful speakers and leaders, will introduce the female team that carries this project forward and will be available to answer any questions.

The Dark Steps will present, at 10 pm, the restored and subtitled version of "Yes, Madam", by director Corey Yuen, in which the highlight is the protagonist Cynthia Rothrock, who was "an absolute pioneer in standing out in Hong Kong action cinema and taking roles meant for men".

Remember that the Batalha Centro de Cinema has a vast program, until the end of March, which aims to "reflect and question the roles attributed to women and the family in society", and includes the screening of several cinematographic works between 1966 and 2019, as well as conversations with the filmmakers and, also, "an electrifying DJ set in the orbit of trance and techno".
