The Arab Room of the Palácio da Bolsa hosted the press conference to present the 18th edition of the EDP Marathon Porto, in a ceremony presented by Jorge Gabriel and attended by representatives of the various entities involved, including the organization, partners and sponsors, as well as the Atlantic Front Municipalities, Porto, Matosinhos and Vila Nova de Gaia.
In the words of Vasco Pinho, Councillor for Sports of the Municipality of Matosinhos, it is in this event that we see "how the Atlantic Front municipalities work together in an exemplary way". Highlighting the touristic and economic importance of the event, even by the numbers involved - about 10,000 participants from 67 different nationalities are expected - he added that Matosinhos is happy to host this event which is also a way to inclusion through sport.
Besides Catarina Araújo, Sports Councillor of Porto City Hall and Jorge Teixeira and Tiago Teixeira, from Runporto, the organizing entity, the event also counted with the presence of Mário Duarte, representing Vila Nova de Gaia City Hall, Vitor Dias, Regional Director of the Portuguese Institute for Sports and Youth, Luis Martins, from Tourism of Porto and North, as well as several personalities, among them the former European and World Champion, as well as Olympic, Fernanda Ribeiro.
The starting gun will be fired on November 6th, at 08:00 a.m., near Sea Life. The finish line will be at Queimódromo (Oporto City Park). Besides the 42.195 km of the main race (19 km of which will be run in Matosinhos and Leça da Palmeira) the event will also include the Healthy Bones Race/Family Race (10km) and the Fun Race Walk Race (6km).
