430 thousand euros for sport

More than six thousand athletes covered by the support of the municipality

56 sports associations, dedicated to different modalities, received global support of more than 430 thousand euros from the municipality.

To this end, on the 15th, at the Edifício dos Paços do Concelho, the Sports Development Program Contracts were celebrated, in a session that was attended by the Mayor, Luísa Salgueiro, the Vice-President of the Municipality , Carlos Mouta, the Councilor for Sports, Vasco Pinho, the Administrator of Matosinhos Sport, Henrique Calisto, the President of the Union of Parishes of Matosinhos and Leça da Palmeira, Paulo Carvalho, the President of the Union of Parishes of Perafita, Lavra and Santa Cruz of the Bishop, Maria de Lurdes Queirós, and of the President of the Union of Parishes of Senhora da Hora and S. Mamede de Infesta, Leonardo Fernandes.

The money is intended to support the development of federated training sports, namely the payment of medical examinations at the Porto Sports Medicine Center and registration in the Associations/Federations of Sports Modalities, to more than six thousand athletes, male and female.

In the opinion of the municipality, sports associations play a crucial role in the implementation of sports, contributing to the dissemination and implementation of healthy habits among the population, as well as offering services for leisure and leisure time. As such, it defends the need to provide sports associations with the means and resources that allow them to develop their regular activity.
