A. F. Porto Academy to be built in two years

The tender for the construction of the future Academy of A.F. Porto, in Ramalde, next to the Via de Cintura Interna, should be launched in the summer

This is the hope of José Neves, president of the association, who is still unable to quantify the value of the investment. Even so, he anticipates that when it starts, the work will take "two years".

After the deed of the plot of land belonging to the Santa Casa da Misericórdia, this Tuesday was the turn of the same procedure in relation to the Porto City Hall land, in a ceremony that included the Sports Councilor, Catarina Araújo.

"It makes perfect sense. It will be an infrastructure of excellence," said the councilwoman. "It's a step towards the future", considered the association responsible.

José Neves explained that the "architecture project" is being analyzed by the city hall services, which may be concluded "within two months". If it goes well, the tender for the awarding of the work should happen "in the summer".

The complex will have three eleven-a-side soccer fields (two synthetic and one grass field), plus a space for beach soccer and another for specific segments such as goalkeeper training. Locker rooms, warehouses, and logistics areas are among the structures that complete the academy.

José Neves emphasized the will to launch a tender in order to "apply for community funds". He added that the specifications are not yet closed and that "prices are constantly fluctuating", which does not allow to advance, for now, with the exact value of the investment.
