Beach Stadium hosts tennis competition

The "Porto Beach Tennis 50" gathered, this Saturday and Sunday, 60 athletes of seven nationalities near the Transparent Building

The Beach Stadium hosted the competition that brings together thirty male, female and mixed doubles from Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Brazil.

According to the municipal company, Ágora, representing Portugal, many of the main national tennis players will be present, including a trio from the national team, Manuela Cunha, Pedro Maio and Henrique Freitas.

The "Freitas and Maio duo, number 51 in the international ranking, is the first head of series in the men's section" and Manuela Cunha (number 40 individual), paired with the German Sophie Marie Schmidt, "occupies the second position in the female ranking of the tournament".

In the competition, inserted in the International Tennis Federation calendar, the total prize money is around 3913 euros.

The Beach Stadium also hosts the "Atlantic Beach Tennis", a tournament that is part of the Portuguese Federation beach calendar. At least twenty doubles teams were registered for the event, coming from all over the country.
