Municipality continues to support sport

Half a million euros are earmarked for training

The Executive approved, in a town hall meeting in Leça da Palmeira, a support of about half a million euros for sports training of young people in the municipality, under the Specific Rules for Support to Sports Associations.

The amount awarded takes into account the sports training of young people (€100.00 per federated athlete), the use of facilities managed by Matosinhos Sport (€50.00 per federated athlete), the encouragement of the practice of sports to be enhanced, support for athletes who live or study in the municipality, a 10% increase in support for women's sports and adapted sports.

During the 2021/2022 sports season, 62 sports associations had 5,352 male athletes and 2,078 female athletes in the federated training brackets.

To this end, Program-Contracts for Sports Development will be signed with each of the institutions involved. The aim is to increase the number of people who engage in regular sports practice, whether for initiation, training or maintenance.
