Portugal makes history and qualifies for the Women's World Cup

The seleção das quinas beat Cameroon 2-1 in the intercontinental playoff for access to the World Cup



The scoreboard was opened at 22 minutes with the goal of Diana Gomes, who celebrates this Wednesday 24 years. The play started with a free kick hit by Kika Nazareth that hit the post and in the rebound the player pushed into the back of the goal.

Cameroon tied the match in the final minutes, at 89 minutes, with a shot by Nchout to the back of the Portuguese goal.

In the final minutes of stoppage time the seleção das quinas stamped their passport to the final phase of the World Cup through a penalty kick converted by Carol.

With this victory Portugal qualifies for the final phase and joins in Group E the Netherlands (match on July 23rd), silver medalists in the last World Cup, Vietnam (July 27th) and the defending champions USA (August 1st).

The final round of the 2023 Women's World Cup takes place in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.
