The Portuguese handball team qualified this Sunday, March 12, for the Euro2024, ensuring the third consecutive presence, and the eighth overall, in the European Championship thanks to a 32-27 victory over North Macedonia. In Matosinhos, Portugal, which went into halftime of the fourth round of qualifying Group 1 for the European Championship winning by 15-11, has already secured the top position in the group, which leads with eight points, four more than Macedonians and Turks, respectively second and third, with two rounds to play.
Qualification for Euro2024, to be held in Germany, is part of a unique cycle for Portuguese handball, led by the selector Paulo Jorge Pereira, which includes successive qualifications for the Europeans of 2020, 2022 and 2024, the World Cups of 2021 and 2023 and also the unprecedented presence at the Olympic Games Tokyo2020 (in 2021).
