Sea Life joins the Global Beach Clean Event initiative to clean the beaches of more than 50 locations, from Sidney to Praia do Castelo do Queijo
The initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of conserving the seas, given that, according to the statement, “it is estimated that 8 million tons of plastic waste enter the oceans each year and that, by 2050, there may be more plastic than fish” .
Castelo do Quejo beach will thus be cleaned and for this to happen, interested parties can register through the online platform created for this purpose.
“This global beach cleanup provides a simple and effective way for everyone to help turn the tide of litter, starting with riverbanks, parks or beaches – all litter ends up in our oceans. In the past, SEA LIFE Porto has received successful cleanups, but this year we want to work with our sister attractions worldwide to really come together and focus our attention on what is currently considered a global crisis”, says Rui Ferreira, Director Overview of SEA LIFE Porto.
“SEA LIFE Trust supports the need for seas and beaches to be properly protected, completely free from plastic pollution. This year, in addition to focusing on global beach cleaning, the institution will take innovative steps such as opening the first SEA LIFE TRUST Beluga Whale Sanctuary in Iceland.”
