The XXIII edition took place from 2 to 8 May and involved the municipality's secondary schools
The XXIII edition of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Tournaments came to an end this Monday. From 2 to 8 May, the initiative involved students from six secondary schools in the municipality (Abel Salazar, Augusto Gomes, Boa Nova, João Gonçalves Zarco, Senhora da Hora and Padrão da Légua), who competed in handball, badminton, futsal, volleyball, basketball and athletics.
The promotion of organised sports practice and the exchange between the students of the various schools constitute the main objective of this project, which also aims to stimulate skills such as cooperation and teamwork, and to develop a taste for sports practice in the student community.
Yesterday, the sports complex in Leça da Palmeira received the finalists of this school year. A moment of healthy competition where fair-play reigned.
The Mayor of Matosinhos, LuÃsa Salgueiro, was present at the awarding of cups and medals, accompanied by the town councillor for Sports, Vasco Pinho, and by the director of Matosinhos Sport, Henrique Calisto, as well as several directors of school groups and teachers of the municipality of Matosinhos.
The Matosinhos Inter-School Secondary School Sports Tournaments are the responsibility of the physical education teachers of the School Groupings and Non-Grouped Schools and are supported by the Matosinhos City Hall.
